What is ADA / TAS compliance striping?
ADA / TAS compliance striping is parking lot layout and marking that meets the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Texas Accessibility Standards (TAS) — the state-level standards that govern commercial properties in Texas. It covers the number, size, location, signage, and access route of accessible parking spaces, and it's enforced through state-licensed Registered Accessibility Specialists (RAS) on most commercial alterations.
Most owners discover compliance gaps the hard way — through a complaint, a tenant lease requirement, or a TAS inspection that catches issues before a certificate of occupancy. The cost of fixing a non-compliant lot reactively is always higher than designing it correctly the first time. Stall dimensions, access aisle widths, slope, signage placement, and route-of-travel all interact, and getting any one of them wrong can fail the lot.
We design every striping job around current ADA and TAS standards and document everything for your records. If you're triggering an alteration — restriping, resurfacing, or reconfiguring — we treat it as a compliance project from the first measurement.
When ADA / TAS compliance becomes a project
- You are restriping, resurfacing, or reconfiguring an existing parking lot
- An ADA complaint or demand letter has been received
- A new tenant lease requires documented compliance
- An RAS inspection has flagged stall, aisle, or signage issues
- Property is being prepped for sale, refinance, or due diligence
- Existing accessible spaces are missing, faded, or non-compliant in dimension
Our ADA / TAS process

TAS compliance audit
We field-measure existing accessible spaces, access aisles, slopes, signage, and route-of-travel against current TAS standards and document gaps in writing.
- 2
Layout design
We design a compliant layout — correct number of spaces (including van-accessible), proper stall and aisle dimensions, and appropriate location relative to building entrances.
- 3
Marking installation
Stall lines, access aisle hash marks, and accessibility symbols are installed using long-life traffic paint at proper film thickness and contrast.
- 4
Signage & wheel stops
We install code-compliant signage at the proper height and offset, and add wheel stops where the layout requires them. Van-accessible spaces get the additional sign.
- 5
Final inspection
We walk the project against the TAS checklist before declaring it complete. Anything that wouldn't pass an RAS inspection gets fixed before we leave.
- 6
Documentation
You receive a stall map, dimensional documentation, paint and signage specs, and photos — everything you need to demonstrate compliance.

Audit documentation
Every job ends with a documented compliance package you can hand to a tenant, RAS, or buyer.
